Italy was my first love before I discovered Paris and I return every chance I can. I have traveled extensively by land and sea around what must be the most beautiful peninsula on earth. Who can resist a country shaped like a boot? Those who know me, know that I love boots. Italy has a long and rich history, the epicenter of western culture, and of course has some of the best food imaginable, but what makes Italy unique are the people.
Our cultural immersion trip to Italy will introduce the girls to the wonders of Italy in the way only Global Girls can. We travel as a small group and we’ll see plenty of ancient wonders, but we will also engage will locals at every stop and as always leave room for unexpected discoveries as we make our way through Rome, Venice, and Florence.
We will explore the Forum and the Colosseum in Rome, marvel at the beauty of Michelangelo’s masterpiece in the Sistine Chapel, sit on the Spanish Steps with locals and other travelers and watch the day wind down Italian style, or as Italians say, ‘La Dolce Far Niente’, (The Sweetness of Doing Nothing). In Florence we’ll discover the Renaissance the Global Girls way as we climb the steps of the Duomo and view Michelangelo’s perfect David, but we’ll also learn to make pizza and gelato. In Venice, the girls will travel like the locals do, by water bus, but will also enjoy the splendor of a Gondola ride. I am very excited about this trip, it’s the next chapter in the Global Girls story. We’d love for you to join us.

When I say, “this is not a typical ‘teen tour’”, you can expect meal times to reflect this as well. Being culturally immersed during travels includes enjoying the culinary delights the country offers. This is especially true of Italy and France. The Italians and the French have a love affair with food and meal times are central to an authentic experience.
All meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) are included on tour. Any additional snack items are at the traveler’s personal expense.
Breakfast will be at our apartment and will consist of coffee, tea, juice, yogurt, eggs, fresh fruit and fresh breads from the bakery along with preserves, butter, Nutella.
Lunch will be spontaneous depending on where we are. We may pick up a pizza or panini or items from the local food market and picnic in the park, stop at one of the many vendors at local markets, or sit at one of many cafes alongside a bustling piazza.
Dinners will be enjoyed at some of my favorite restaurants and at our apartment. Cooking at the apartment will be a team effort and will be a part of our Italian culinary experience. We will buy from the local markets and learn to prepare some Italian dishes.

Travel Protection Plan:
I recommend you purchase travel insurance for your Global Girls’ upcoming trip. It will provide trip cancellation and interruption benefits in the event she is not able to take the trip or has to cut it short for covered reasons. The insurance also provides medical benefits which is important because most domestic medical insurances do not provide coverage outside of the U.S.. The insurance also provides emergency benefits while overseas like air evacuation, repatriation to home country and assistance in replacing lost documents including passports and visas.

Tadji Kretschmer – Director
I’m a mom to 4 kids, ages 20-25, whom I’ve traveled with extensively. I’m a certified middle school teacher and have led numerous student trips to New York with 20+ students. I’ve been traveling to France for over 10 years with numerous extended stays in Paris. I’ve been leading canal boat trips throughout France for the past nine years and have led several private guided tours in Paris and London. I’ve also organized trips throughout Italy, Spain, and Germany. I’m fluent in Spanish, semi-fluent in French and German, and understand Italian.
Demi LaLonde – Group Leader
I’m currently a junior at Florida State University. I was raised in a Montessori setting and had Tadji Kretschmer as my 2nd – 5th grade teacher. This led to a close bond between our families. Tadji has inspired me to travel and explore the world. I’ve been fortunate to be able to travel with Tadji to many places, including Costa Rica, Paris, London, New England, BVIs, USVIs, Puerto Rico, and New York City.
